EMPOWERING FUTURES – Long-term Governance, Democracy and Futures Research, the 23rd Futures Conference
Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRC), RESCUE’s partner, organised the Futures Conference 2023 in Turku.
There is an urgent need for long-term futures thinking in order to sustain possibilities for alternative and creative solutions to complex crises and empower futures. For the next Futures Conference, we will gather in Turku to discuss the futures of democracy, trust, power and sustainability, which are tightly connected to these crises.

Integrating urban and transport planning, environment and health for healthier urban living

Urban Transitions 2022 aims to promote healthy urban development by bringing together different disciplines working within cities. RESCUE is submitting a joint article to this conference.

THE 14TH ATUT SYMPOSIUM - MAKING (A)MENDS
RESCUE is one of the collaborators at ATUT 2022 symposium. This year, the symposium is organised by Tampere School of Architecture and aims to exchange multi-disciplinary knowledge about current restorative practices and how we can and should (a)mend our strategies, values, and responses to create a resilient and restorative alternative future.

This year RESCUE is collaborating as a partner in Varautumisen mestarit - perhetapahtumat (champions of safety - family event) organised by Heureka.
We will have a stand in the exhibition, where our researchers are present to discuss their results which are very relevant to the ongoing crises in the world. In addition, Professor Emerita Sirkka Heinonen (WP5 leader) will give a speech at 14.00 in the auditorium. The topic of her speech is “ Tulevaisuus NYT! – kuinka voimaistua tulevaisuusajattelun avulla?” (The Future NOW! - how to empower yourself with future thinking?).
It is an honour for us to invite you to this event. This exhibition will surely benefit the visitors who want to know more about holistic preparedness and resilience towards the future crises.

RESCUE Workshop

RESCUE team will meet at the first F2F Workshop and will discuss about possible collaboration and joint activities among WPs, as well as how to highlight the current crises (e.g. Ukrain War) and deal with them in our research activities.

Futures Conference 2021 - LEARNING FUTURES │FUTURES OF LEARNING
As we move further into the 21st century, we need to renew our understanding of what it means to learn, teach, and develop new knowledge. Education systems and learning processes for people of all ages are needed to navigate uncertainty, address known problems, identify new ones, and be able to detect and make the sense of emergent issues and opportunities. The roles of education and learning are also becoming more essential in solving the pressing global ecological, cultural, societal and economic challenges. One pathway for renewal is the development of futures learning at all levels of education and in wider society. The ‘Learning Futures conference will create a cross-disciplinary platform where participants can meet, share, and discuss new ideas concerning futures and learning. RESCUE presents three abstracts in this conference.

27TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE EUROPEAN REAL ESTATE SOCIETY
The European Real Estate Society (ERES) was established in 1994 to create an international real estate network between academics and professionals across Europe. ERES is dedicated to promoting and advancing the real estate discipline and specifically property based research throughout Europe. The Society incorporates national research societies, academic researchers, practitioners and doctoral students engaged in real estate. The core activities of ERES include an annual conference, industry seminars and education seminars. This year RESCUE also presents an abstract in the conference.
